Land, Air, & Sea Special Operations (LASSO ® ) Vehicle VSE Corporation, a federal engineering and advanced technology services company, introduces its new Land, Air & Sea Special Operations (LASSO) Vehicle. The LASSO vehicle is a full time, six-wheel drive Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicle (ULTV) with: fully independent suspension; 9 inches of suspension travel; 12 inches of ground clearance; and a payload capacity of 2,700 pounds. This combination allows for extreme load carrying and off-road capabilities. The LASSO was specifically designed with the V-22 Osprey in mind and will fit inside the tilt-rotor aircraft. Another main focus of the design of the LASSO vehicle was to use as many COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) components as possible to reduce development/production costs and facilitate a speedy, yet robust, design. The vehicle has also been fitted with common & familiar military instrument panel components. This makes our LASSO vehicle a “get in and go” piece of equipment for armed forces personnel. It has also been developed with a keen eye towards serviceability. The entire “power pack” (engine, transmission, radiator & accessories) is mounted to a separate sub-frame which is located under the seats. With this design configuration, the LASSO vehicle’s power pack can be quickly and easily removed from the vehicle for service. Also, for optimum serviceability, each of the six “corners” (wheel & suspension assemblies) share common components. The LASSO vehicle is equipped with both 12v & 24v power. This includes: (1) NATO slave plug; (2) 110v outlets; and (1) 12v dc power source. If necessary, the vehicle can be utilized as a mobile generator. The LASSO is also fully equipped for black-out and infrared driving modes. One of the most unique characteristics of our LASSO vehicle is its capacity to carry 2,700 lbs. It is, first and foremost, a material handling vehicle.
